The Modern Standby feature will offer an instant-on and always-connected experience for Windows 10 PC users. The instant-on support is aimed to allow systems to resume as soon as their lid is open. It is being introduced mainly because most Windows-powered laptops take some time to wake up from sleep mode.

A second feature worthy of mentioning is the always-connected feature. This will enable apps installed on the OS to work in the background even while in sleep mode.

With this, apps like emails will be able to fetch new email messages even while in the background. However, most Windows Store Apps are regarded to be compatible with the feature.

Also, there are several other features and improvements coming with the Windows 10X other than the Modern Standby and always-on. This includes a new File Explorer and more to be unravelled in a few months to come.

It should be made known that originally, Microsoft Windows 10X project was started with a focus majorly on dual and foldable-screens for the initial release. However, after a few months, the launch date was delayed and its focus changed to single-screen devices.
