However, there are times you got your passwords compromised, especially on websites where you have more than a single account and will need to edit or delete such passwords.
Google Chrome saved passwords are saved directly to your Google Account, you can not make any edits whatsoever to the passwords except through the Google Account associated with the browser.
How to Edit Saved Passwords on Chrome from Google Accounts
- Visit Google Account page from your PC or mobile and sign in with the email address you use on Google Chrome browser.
- Select the Security option towards the left.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Password Manager.
- Now, find and select the website you want to edit its password. Google will prompt you to enter account password to confirm it’s truly you trying to make changes to the saved passwords.
- Then, the username and password for the website selected is displayed on your screen.
- Further, choose edit from below the password displayed and you can then, be able to change your saved password for the website.
How to Delete Saved Passwords on Chrome from Google Accounts
- Visit Google Account page and sign in with your email address.
- Choose the Security option and scroll to the bottom of the page to further choose Password Manager.
- Then, find and select any website to delete its password. The username and password for the website selected will show on your screen.
- Finally, select Delete to delete your saved password for the website.
- A pop-up is then displayed to ensure you really want to save this password. Just select Delete for the second time and end the process.
Using the Password Checkup Tool
The Google Password Checkup tool helps to analyze your saved password that are vulnerable. It checks and give counts of websites using weak passwords, websites using the same passwords and websites whose passwords have been compromised.
How to Use Google Password Checkup Tool
- Visit Google Account page and sign in with your email address.
- Choose the Security option and scroll to the bottom of the page to further choose Password Manager.
- Then, find and select Password Checkup under Password Manager.
- Further, select Go to Password Checkup.
- An introduction to Password Checkup page is displayed and you still have to select Go to Password Checkup again.
- A report page is then displayed and you will be able to see counts of websites using weak passwords, same passwords and websites whose passwords have been compromised.
- You can further choose any option from this list to view websites affected and edit their passwords.
