Engage in Keyword Research with Google Keyword Planner
Google Keyword Planner
Google Keyword Planner or simply Google AdWords is a tool owned by Google to help advertisers get their ad in front of the right customers by helping with keyword research and selecting the right terms. Advertisers can discover new keywords, research for keywords, get bid estimates for each keyword and help them run a successful campaign.
Google Keyword Planner is serving a good purpose for publishers too especially in the area of keyword research. As a content writer, you don’t have to just sit and write on any topic that comes to your mind. You need to do research on keywords before you write or publish an article. Here is why!
Google Keyword Planner gives certain information about your keyword. This information includes; average monthly search, minimum and maximum search volume, keyword competition, top of page bid (low and high range).
The Benefit of Keyword Research
Engaging in keyword research will have a good benefit on the performance of your blog. with keyword research, you can easily find out low, medium and high competition keywords. Also, keywords have different bids. Some have high and some are extremely low.
For your page written around a certain keyword to make a good position on search engines when the keyword or better still, related keywords are searched. It depends well on how well you engage in keyword research.
The possibility of making money online with your blog when all your writings have been based on are keywords with low bids. If not for keyword research, you wouldn’t have known that!
Most successful bloggers don’t joke to engage in keyword research with Google Keyword Planner. They’d prefer to sit down hours researching for keywords before putting up that write-up. They have made this a habit and it has contributed a lot to their growth.
Choice of Keywords
You need to decide your choice of keywords in terms of competition. Keywords either have low, medium or high competition. It depends on how many blogs are writing and ranking for that keyword.
If your blog is still new, you don’t write on highly competitive keywords because you will be competing with popular websites. It won’t be easier to outrank websites that have been up and ranking for that same keyword for a long time.
If you are choosing keywords, I will advise you to choose low and medium competitive keywords. This will help you to start your own game at a good pace. A good thing to know is that low and medium competitive keywords do not have many blogs writing on them.
Considering this alone may not improve your search engine appearance. Another factor you should play around with is minimum search volume for that keyword per month. In short, my advice for you is to choose low and medium competition keywords with high minimum search volume.
Consequently, as you rinse and repeat on a continuous basis, you will soon find your website featuring on search engines for those keywords. Also, let me remind you that keyword research won’t make your blog feature on search engines without you submitting your website sitemap. Here is a post on how to connect your blog to Google Webmasters to help you submit a sitemap.
